The mission of Northwest Tap Connection is to train, inspire, and nurture young dancers towards artistic excellence, to perform works by emerging and master choreographers, and to bring the art of dance to multi-cultural and generational audiences through dance instruction, innovative community partnerships, and participation in local festivals, cultural events, and arts in education programs both locally and nationally.

In the Community

In 2016, hip-hop teacher Shakiah Danielson and NWTC responded to the deaths of unarmed black lives at the hands of police officers, using dance as passionate protest in a call to say their names, see their names, and feel their names.

Hell You Talmbout screened at NFFTY 2017 and took home the Audience Award.

Enrichment Programs

Northwest Tap Connection’s Enrichment Program combines arts education, performance, and social justice. Through cultural education and sharing, NTC students build professional and leadership skills. Students are active participants in directing their own futures through increased knowledge and global  citizenship. Students are presented with incredible opportunities to travel, learn, and provide cultural education through performance.  Our students have traveled to Germany, Austria, Los Angeles, Louisiana, Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C.  Last year, a number of NTC  dancers at performed The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Northwest Tap Connection is in partnership with Seattle Theater Group (STG) and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project. Through these partnerships NTC students have performed at the Paramount and Moore Theaters in Seattle and the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Chicago, IL.
